Outlaws Win Third In A Row; Beat Tucson 7-2

(Tucson, AZ) The Chico Outlaws won their third game in a row behind Garret Holleran's six and a third innings of work on the hill. Holleran, a Phoenix, AZ native, limited the Toros to two runs on eight hits and struck out a season-high seven batters to get his fourth win of the year.
The Outlaws used a three run second inning to get all the runs they would need in the win. Ismael Castro led off the inning with a single and stole second. Rich Janeway then walked, setting the stage for Alex Prieto to hit a two-RBI double to drive in the game's first two runs. One out later, Blake Gailen hit a sac fly to score Prieto, making it 3-0 Outlaws.
Chico got a run in the third off a Janeway single to drive in Castro, who singled and it was 4-0.
Tucson got lone runs in the third and fourth innings off RBI singles from Cristobal Santana and Josh Womack, making the score 4-2.
Putting up single runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, the Outlaws pulled away to make the final score 7-2. Included in those runs was a solo home run by Blake Gailen in the eighth, his fifth of the year and matching his total from 2009.
Justin Segal, Rusty Jones and Matt Perisho all pitched in relief for the Outlaws, allowing just one hit in two and two-thirds innings of work.
With the win, Chico is now 19-5 and stays in first place in the GBL North. Tucson is now two games under .500 at 12-14.
The Outlaws take on the Toros in Tucson at Hi Corbett Field again on Saturday night. Leftie Demetrius Banks starts for Chico opposite left-hander Vince Davis for the Toros. Game time is 7:00 pm.
