Toros lose first game of series

Tucson AZ - The Tucson Toros lost the opening game of their series against Chico, falling 7-2 to the Outlaws Friday.
Toros RHP Albie Lopez ran into trouble in the top half of the 2nd. After retiring the first out with ease, he allowed a single to Outlaws' 3B Ismael Castro and then walked 1B Rich Janeway which paved the way for a 2-RBI double by SS Alex Prieto. The Outlaws would tack on one more run later in the inning when Prieto scored off a sacrifice fly by CF Bobby Hill to make it 3-0.
In the 3rd Castro would again single and steal second, which allowed him to score off of Janeway's 2-out RBI single to center to make it an early 4-0 lead for the Outlaws.
The Toros would make some offensive noise of their own in the bottom of the 3rd when 1B Cristobal Santana smacked a 2-out RBI single to right that brought in CF Josh Womack. Santana would finish the night going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Womack followed with a 2-out RBI single of his own in the 4th when he scored 2B Brian Bistagne to help cut the lead in half to make it 4-2.
But that would be all the offense the Toros could muster up as the Outlaws went on to score a few more runs as Preito would hit another 2-out RBI single in the 7th to make it 5-2. Then in the 8th, CF Blake Gailen would jack his 5th homer of the year to straight away center to make it 6-2. Then finally, Prieto would finish his impressive 5-for-5, 4 RBI night with yet another RBI single in the 9th to make the score it's final, 7-2.
Be there tomorrow night as Toros lefty Matt Lincoln takes on fellow LHP Demetrius Banks at 7 PM on Souvenir Saturday as the Toros are giving out free 2009 Division Champion Toros Baseball Hats to the first 1,000 fans through the gates! Following the game, kids can run the bases!
