Outlaws get shot down

November 8, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kansas City Outlaws News Release

In four games last week, the Outlaws took only one victory. After a 4-1 start, the Outlaws are dangling on to second place in the Western Division with a 6-5 record. "Shots on goal" is a glaring negative stat for the Outlaws as Kansas City has 37 goals on only 270 shots; whereas opponents have 40 goals on 381 shots. That is large reason why Maxime Gingras was the October Goalie of the Month in the UHL, as he as saved the Outlaws from a losing record in their early existence. Individual Outlaws highlights: Right Winger Joe Seroski is leading the UHL in Goals with 13 on only 30 shots ... Left Winger Jason Ruff is leading the UHL in Assists with 12.

FIGHT 'EM UP:

The Outlaws fought an emotional battle in a 4-1 loss on Sunday in Flint against the Generals. Last week's Police Gazette warned readers of Kris Waltze and his excessive penalties. However, both teams came out in fight-mode as 146 penalty minutes were issued in the third period alone (166 for the game). Tensions were high after Outlaws goalie Mike Buckley was carried off the ice with a concussion mid-way through the third. Fights broke out all over the ice as the Outlaws went down in defeat.

Practice schedule (week of 11/8):

Tuesday, November 9: 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Ice Sports in Shawnee, KS

Wednesday, November 10: 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Ice Sports in Shawnee, KS

LAST WEEK's Showdowns:

- Wednesday, November 3 @ Missouri River Otters: LOSS 3-2

- Friday, November 5 @ Kalamazoo Wings: LOSS 5-3

- Saturday, November 6 @ Fort Wayne Komets: WIN 7-4

- Sunday, November 7 @ Flint Generals: LOSS 4-1

WANTED TEAMS ON THE HORIZON:

- Friday, November 12 @ Muskegon Fury @ 6:30 p.m.: Things don't get any easier for the Outlaws as they try to be the UHL-version of Pittsburgh Steelers and knock off the only unbeaten team in the league at 7-0-1. The Outlaws will look to snap the Fury's 25-game unbeaten streak, dating back to last year when they captured the Colonial Cup.

- Saturday, November 13 @ Quad City Mallards @7 p.m.: The Mallards will have to be ready for the revenge factor, as the Outlaws look to make up for their 6-2 loss against their interdivision "quacks." Quad City now stands at 5-4-1, just one point behind Kansas City.

Kemper arena fact of the week:

The permanent curtaining system will be installed by Global Spectrum this week. The system will make the seating capacity at Outlaws games an intimate 7042, as the curtains will extend from Kemper Arena's ceiling to the top of the 200-level exits to the concourse.
