Kalamazoo's Carpentier and Flint's Emond earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Kalamazoo Wings center Yannick Carpentier has been named Sher-Wood Player of the Week and Flint Generals goaltender Marco Emond has been named Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 7, 2004

Carpentier finished the week with five points (2g, 3a) and a plus-five rating in two games. In Friday's 5-3 win vs. Kansas City, he notched two goals and one assist, and finished the night with a plus-3 rating. He then added two assists on Saturday in the K-Wings 5-3 victory vs. Elmira. The 24-year-old Greenfield Park, Quebec native currently leads the Kalamazoo Wings with ten points (2g, 8a).

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack left wing Hugo Belanger, Danbury left wing Mike Bayrack, Elmira center Jeff Antonovich, Flint right wing Bobby Reynolds, Kansas City right wing Joe Seroski, Missouri right wing Justin Quenneville, Motor City right wing Joe Burton, Muskegon center Todd Robinson, Port Huron center Nick Lees, Quad City right wing Greg Barber, Richmond center Jonathan Gagnon, and Rockford center J.C. Ruid.

Emond finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 0.50 GAA, .980 save percentage, and one shutout. During Friday's 5-0 victory vs. Motor City, he stopped all 31 shots he faced to earn his second shutout of the season. Emond also turned away 19 of 20 Kansas City shots in a 4-1 victory on Sunday. The 26-year-old Valleyfield, Quebec native currently leads the league with a .945 save percentage. He is second among UHL goaltenders with a 1.67 GAA and is tied for first with two shutouts.
