Port Huron Flags News Release

In Brief
· 11/5: Conference Final Rematch
After being defeated in the Conference Finals last May, the Beacons looked to avenge the loss Friday night at McMorran Arena. The Beacons scored the first two goals of the game to take a 2-0 lead on goals by Trevor Edwards (3) at 9:43 and a PPG by newcomer Nick Lees (1) at 11:42 of the second period. Entering the third period the Beacons had a 2-0 lead and then the game took a turn for the worse. The visiting Jackals scored four straight goals and eventually won the game 5-3. This would result in the Beacons being winless in eight straight games.

· 11/6: Defensive Battle
Having been defeated 6-2 on Halloween, the Beacons looked to get even with the Mechanics. The Beacons scored quickly into the game when Andrew McPherson (2) scored at 0:27 of the 1st period with assists by Nick Lees (2) and David Beauregard (4). Motor City answered back at 16:56 of the 1st when Joe Burton scored to end the 1st period tied at 1. At 8:50 of the 2nd Andrew Shier (1) scored to give the Beacons the lead for good. Neither team would give way to either's opportunities and both goaltenders stood tall. Daniel Berthiaume made 16 saves on 17 shots while Motor City's' newcomer and former NHL'er Mike Fountain made 34 saves on 36 shots. However the Beacons earned their second win of the season and leaped pass the Mechanics in the standings.
