Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets hold 3rd place in the Western Conference of the UHL with a 5-4-1 record and 11 points after the first 4 weeks of the 2004-05 campaign.

Friday night the Komets were stopped by the visiting Danbury Trashers 5-2. It was the first ever visit to Fort Wayne by the new expansion team from Connecticut. Dustin Virag and Tom Nemeth scored for the Komets while goaltender Kevin St. Pierre made 28 saves on 33 shots.

Saturday the Komets fell to another newcomer, Kansas City, 7-4 in front the UHL's largest crowd of the week of 7,614. Komet defenseman Jason Kean netted his first goal of the season while Colin Chaulk, Danny Stewart and Nemeth each also added tallies. Komet goalie St. Pierre was chased from the game at 7:49 of the second period after giving up 6 Outlaw goals on 20 shots. Kelly Shields stopped all 6 shots faced in relief.

This week the Komets skate 3 games in 4 nights starting at Flint Wednesday at 7:05pm. Friday the Komets return home to host the Rockford IceHogs at 8pm. Saturday the Komets travel to Missouri to face the River Otters at 8:05pm Fort Wayne time. All 3 games this weekend will be webcast at Komets.com and will be broadcast on WOWO Radio AM 1190 with Bob Chase calling the play-by-play.

Komet leaders: P.C. Drouin 11 assists, 16 points,.....Chris Grenville 7 goals, +8.....Kevin Kotyluk 51 penalty minutes.....Drouin, Grenville 2 power play goals.

Streaking Komets: Danny Stewart 4-game point streak (2-2=4).....goalie Kevin St. Pierre has started 7 straight games. Friday night 4 Komet streaks were ended as Chris Grenville (7-6=13) and P.C. Drouin (5-9=14) each were halted at 7 games each, Colin Chaulk ended a 6-game point streak (5-7=12) and Sean Venedam was held off the board ending a 5-game point streak (1-7=8).

Marathon Night Friday.....this Friday night is the second Marathon Night of the season. Komet fans can get Fill Up cards at any participating Marathon location around the Fort Wayne area for "buy one, get one free" ticket offers good for any Friday night Komet home game this year.
