Outlaws finish nine-game home stand

(Kansas City, MO --- December 21, 2004) – The Kansas City Outlaws finished their nine-game home stand with a loss against cross-state rival Missouri River Otters 2-1 Tuesday night at Kemper Arena. Defenseman Matthieu Descoteaux tied the game in the first period with an unassisted power play goal, but the River Otters responded with a power play goal of their own by winger Charlie Blyth in the second period. After many persistent efforts near the net, the Outlaws were unable tie the game and send it into shootouts. Outlaws goaltender Maxime Gingras played another superb game while recording 37 saves.

The Outlaws do not play until Sunday, December 26 at Missouri but will spend their free time giving back to the local Kansas City community. On Wednesday, December 22 and Thursday, December 23, Outlaws players will help give instruction to over 70 campers at the Outlaws Holiday Hockey Camp at Ice Sports Arena in Shawnee. Outlaws Head Coach Darryl Williams and Outlaws players Joe Seroski, Steve Yetman, and Mark Lee will lead campers ages 5-14 through a set of drills and give tips on what it takes to become a professional athlete.

On Wednesday, December 22 at 1 p.m., Kansas City Outlaws stars Joe Seroski, Mark Lee, Steve Yetman, and their families will help serve lunch to the needy at the Kansas City Community Kitchen. The Community Kitchen has been open since 1980 and feeds as many as 500 people for lunch every day.

Olympic Silver Medalists and Kansas City natives Terin Humphrey and Courtney McCool participated in pre-game activities tonight. They dropped the ceremonial first puck while wearing Outlaws jerseys as well as signed autographs and took pictures for fans before the game.

The Outlaws will begin their six-game road trip Sunday, December 26 at Missouri. They will return home Wednesday, January 5 at 7 p.m. to face the Fort Wayne Komets.
