Kory Cooper Named Goaltender of the Week

PORT HURON, MI- The Port Huron Beacons are proud to announce that Kory Cooper has been named as the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week.

Kory Cooper started his week in Quad City on Wednesday December 15th facing 31 shots. He stopped all 31 en route to his first shutout of the year and third for the Beacons in four games.

Cooper and the Beacons returned home on Friday December 17th to face to IceHogs to look to continue the shutout streak. Not only did he manage to stop an outstanding 40 shots but managed to tally his second shutout of the year and Beacons fourth shutout in five games.

This was the second straight week that the Beacons had back-to-back shutouts. Last week Stu Dunn carried the streak to 166:46 minutes total until he was beat in the first period vs. Quad City on December 12th.

This was the second weekly nomination for Cooper and first time winning this season. Cooper carries a two-game shutout streak into this weekend's action, totaling 120 minutes of shutout hockey.

The Beacons face a two game week heading into Fraser to play the Mechanics on Wednesday the 22nd and return home on the 26th to face the Muskegon Fury.
