The Orange County Flyers used a strong pitching performance from former big leaguer Byung-Hyun Kim, who earned his second win of the year in a 9-3 Orange County win over the Outlaws on Monday night at Nettleton Stadium.

Kim (2-0) threw six innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits and striking out four enroute to the win.

Mark McLemore (2-2) started for Chico and got knocked around in his four and a third innings of work, surrendering five runs to the Flyers.

Orange County scored a solo run in the top of the second on Sergio Pedroza's fourth homerun of the year for the game's first run.

In the fifth, the Flyers used RBI singles from Jimmy Rohan and Pedroza, along with a sac fly RBI from Keith Ginter to put Orange County up 5-0.

In the seventh, the visitors struck again with two runs off Outlaws' reliever David Dinelli, the first on an RBI groundout from Ginter that scored Tyler Keebe and the second on an RBI single from David Harris to plate Rohan.

The Flyers got three more runs in the eighth inning as Rohan and Davis cashed in their second RBI singles of the night and Pedroza racked up RBI number two of the night on a groundout, making the score 9-0 Flyers heading to the ninth.

Chico avoided their first shutout of the season by scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth off Flyer's reliever Jamie Niley, who walked two batters in the frame and hit three more with pitches. Ismael Castro, John Urick and pinch runner Garret Holleran scored to make the final score of 9-3.

Josh Dew pitched one and two-thirds innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two. Rusty Jones pitched the final inning and two-thirds in relief of Dinelli, who allowed five earned runs on five hits, three walks and two strikeouts.

The loss dropped Chico to 24-9, while Orange County got to 14-17 with the win.

The Outlaws and Flyers resume their three game series at Nettleton Stadium on Tuesday night as Kris Honel goes for his league-leading seventh win of the year opposite Manny Ayala of the Flyers. Game time is 6:35 pm and you can watch the game live on Justin.TV.com.
