
Outfielder Brian Barton Returns to Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that OF Brian Barton has been promoted to the team from Double-A Akron. He is scheduled to start for the Herd tonight against the Rochester Red Wings at Dunn Tire Park (7:05 p.m.).
Barton was with the team from August 5-13, and hit .321 (9-28) with one home run and three RBI in eight games. He also drew six walks for a .472 on-base percentage. Barton was transferred to Double-A Akron yesterday but did not play of the Aeros.
Barton, 25, is the Cleveland Indians' #5 prospect by Baseball America. The outfielder spent most of the 2007 season with Akron, hitting .314 (122-389) with 18 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 59RBI and 20 stolen bases in 106 games. His batting average is the 6th highest in the Eastern League, while his 122 hits are 2nd to only Akron teammate Jordan Brown (124). An Eastern League All-Star, Barton has also drawn 41 walks to give him the 2nd-highest on-base percentage (.416) in the league.
