
Knott paces Tides attack

Jon Knott homered and scored twice to lead a 12-hit attack as Norfolk knocked off the Columbus Clippers 6-2 Wednesday night from Harbor Park.
Knott slugged his 11th homer of the season in the 4th inning and singled and scored in the 5th, helping the Tides win their 6th straight game over the Clippers. Over that stretch, Norfolk has outscored Columbus 35-14.
Jason Dubois, Mike Cervenak and Ryan Hubele each added two hits apiece in the win, while Eider Torres added a two-run single. With his two singles, Dubois extended his hitting streak to seven games, matching a season-high.
Tim Kester (9-8) earned the win for Norfolk, allowing one run on three hits in five innings. The victory moved him into a tie for 4th in the Orioles' system with nine victories. Micah Bowie (0-2) took the loss for Columbus, yielding three runs on six hits in 4.2 innings.
Norfolk and Columbus will conclude their season series with a 7:15 contest on Thursday night from Harbor Park. Southpaw Kurt Birkins (6-4, 3.17) will take the hill for the Tides against Clippers' southpaw Chris Michalak (5-5, 2.78).
