Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Second baseman Luis Ordaz blasted a walk-off homer with one out in the bottom of the 11th to give Indianapolis a 3-2 win over Louisville in front of 7,711 Wednesday afternoon at Victory Field.

The Indians improve to 63-60 overall and 35-27 at home, while the Bats fall to 62-63 on the season and 28-32 on the road. Thursday will be the Tribe's 269th consecutive day with a record of .500 or better.

Ordaz's (2-for-2, 1 R, 1 RBI) third homer of the season -- a shot over the left-field wall -- came on an 0-1 count and marked the Tribe's seventh walk-off victory of the season. Ordaz's heroics also came after a 10-minute injury delay when he was knocked to the ground in a collision at second base.

The Indians loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but Bats LHP Jon Coutlangus (1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 SO) induced a double-play ball to force extra frames. Indianapolis also put runners at second and third with no outs in the 10th, but Coutlangus retired three straight batters to escape the jam.

The Tribe knotted the contest by plating two runs in the fourth. Indianapolis collected its first hit when SS Brian Bixler drilled a single to center. Bixler scored moments later on 1B Steven Pearce's (3-for-5, 1 R, 1 RBI) double to left before Pearce eventually trotted home on 3B Yurendell de Caster's (2-for-5, 1 RBI) base knock to center.

Louisville collected its only two runs in the first. SS Paul Janish doubled to left and came plateward on LF Joey Votto's (2-for-4, 1 R, 1 RBI) single to right. Votto then stole second, moved to third on 2B Jorge Cantu's base knock to left and raced home on CF Jay Bruce's sacrifice fly to to right.

Indians RHP Brian Rogers (1.0 IP, 2 H) improved to 2-1 with the win. RHP Mark Corey (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO), RHP Josh Sharpless (2.0 IP, 3 SO) and RHP Jonah Bayliss (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO) also kept Louisville off the scoreboard as the Tribe bullpen retired 10 straight batters between the sixth and ninth innings.

Bats RHP Ricky Stone (0.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER) fell to 5-6 with the loss.

Indianapolis opens an eight-game road trip at Durham on Thursday at 7 p.m. Bryan Bullington is scheduled to start for the Indians, while LHP J.P. Howell is expected to get the nod for the Bulls.

The contest will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 6:40 p.m.
