
Otters win fifth in six games

Chris Pillsbury pitched 7.1 innings of two-run ball as the Evansville Otters beat the Gateway Grizzlies 8-2, finishing off a 5-1 homestand.
For the second straight night, Gateway got on the board with a pair of runs in the first inning. The Otters countered in the second. With the score 2-1 and the bases loaded, Steve Martin doubled into the right-centerfield gap, clearing the bases to make it 4-2 Evansville.
The Otters chased Gateway starter Bryan Bernat (0-4) in the fifth inning when they tacked on three more runs to make it 7-2. Evansville finished out the scoring in the seventh when they plated a run off reliever Marcus Barriger.
Pillsbury (2-2) got the win for Evansville. Ryan Burnau pitched the final 1.2 innings scoreless in the win.
The Otters have now won eight of 10 games and head up north for a six-game road trip to Rockford and Kalamazoo. All six games of the roadtrip can be heard on 91.5 WUEV. Tuesday's game starts at 7:05 p.m.
