Austin Watson scored with 48 seconds remaining in regulation to hand the Erie Otters (32-26-1-1) their first loss at home since January 8 in a 6-5 decison won by the Peterborough Petes Friday night at Tullio Arena.

Reigning OHL Player of the Week Greg McKegg scored 1:42 into the game to give the Otters an early 1-0 lead. McKegg made a nice move as he shoveled the puck on the backhand around the left arm of Bryce O'Hagan to record his 40th goal of the season. Lino Martschini then tied the game at one by finishing off a three-on-one with 2:11 remaining in the first period.

The Otters regained the lead just 43 seconds into the second period as Anthony Luciani completed a two-on-one with a shot from the left circle through O'Hagan for his 25th goal of the season.

The Petes then rallied for four unanswered goals, spelling the end of Chris Festarini's night as Adam Wood entered the net. The Otters quickly supported the relief netminder as Phil Varone scored 18 seconds after the Petes had taken a three-goal lead at 13:45. Shawn Szydlowski scored on the power play with 15 seconds remaining in the second to put the Otters within one going into the third.

The Otters tied the game 2:46 into the third on the power play as Luciani roofed a shot past O'Hagan for his second goal of the game. Unfortunately, it as not meant to be for the Otters as Watson scored late in regulation to steal two points at Tullio Arena.

The Otters host one of their division rivals, the Kitchener Rangers Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, call 814-452-4857 or log on to the official website of the Erie Otters, www.ottershockey.com.
