Akeson marks 100th season point in 4-3 win over Spirit

6,450 fans at the Aud were on their feet to salute Jason Akeson as he marked his 100th season point. Akeson tallied the point with an assist on the game opening goal, the first en-route to a Kitchener Rangers 4-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit.

Gabriel Landeskog scored off a cross crease feed from Akeson at the 10:47 mark of the first period to put the Rangers up 1-0.

The Rangers' Cody Sol beat Saginaw netminder Mavric Parks with a sharp angled shot at 7:18 of the second period to make it 2-0 Kitchener.

Just 10-seconds in to the third period, Jerry D'Amigo backhanded his 8th goal of the season past Parks to increase the Rangers lead to 3-0. Randell scored a rebound at the 6:35 mark to advance the Rangers 4-0. Saginaw's Ivan Telegin scored over the shoulder of Rangers' Brandon Maxwell at 12:18 to get on the board and make it 4-1. John McFarland tightened the gap to 4-2 with his 23rd goal of the season at the 16:52 mark. Brandon Saad made it a one-goal game with 0:49 left on the clock. The Rangers held on for the win.

The Rangers travel to Erie tomorrow - Saturday, February 26th for a 7:00pm game versus the Erie Otters.
