Otters Open 2014 Regular Season at Normal CornBelters

(NORMAL, ILLINOIS) - The Evansville Otters (0-0) open their 20th season in the Frontier League when they visit the Normal CornBelters (0-0) for a three game weekend series beginning on Friday, May 16. First pitch at the Corn Crib is set for 7:00 pm CT.

The Otters are the longest running franchise in the Frontier League and have more wins (793) than any other team in league history. Evansville plays their home games at historic Bosse Field, which was built in 1915 and is the third oldest baseball stadium in America. Bosse Field is now in its 99th year of existence.

Evansville has now began the season playing Normal for the third time in five seasons. They matched up at Bosse Field in 2010 for the CornBelters first series in their inaugural year and again to start the 2013 season.

The Otters are winless (0-5) in their last five season openers. The team is looking for their first Opening Day win since two-hitting the Windy City Thunderbolts on May 21, 2008 in a 6-0 Otters victory.

Evansville will have right-hander Zach Petersime(0-0, 0.00 ERA) making his Frontier League and Otters debut against Normal righty Drew Provence (0-0, 0.00 ERA). Petersime is an Greenwood, Indiana native and has spent five seasons in the Baltimore Orioles organization. He was 0-1 last season with the Norfolk Tides (BAL, AAA).

The Normal CornBelters are 20-16 all time against the Evansville Otters. Normal won five of the six meetings last season against Evansville. Both home teams swept the series at their own ballpark back in the 2012 season.
