Erie Otters News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania - Erie Otters Head Coach Kris Knoblauch announced today that overage forward Kyle Pettit has been named captain of the team for the 2016-17 campaign.

"Kyle is the ultimate selfless player," Kris Knoblauch said. "He doesn't care about goals, assists, or personal awards. He just wants to do what's best for the team. The coaches respect what Kyle brings, and I know the players do also."

Pettit, now in his fifth season with the Otters, becomes the 12th full-time captain in team history. The Komoka, Ontario native was selected in the second round, 27th overall, by Erie in the 2012 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. The 20-year-old center has appeared in 257 career games, recording 45 goals and 84 points, and is off to a career year pace with 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points in 19 games played in 2016-17. He was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks 156th overall in the 6th round in 2014.

Darren Raddysh, Erie's overage defenseman in his fifth year with the club, and Alex DeBrincat, a Chicago Blackhawks second round selection in 2016 in his third season with Erie, will continue to serve as alternate captains for the 2016-17 season.

The Erie Otters visit the Saginaw Spirit Friday, November 18th, and the Sarnia Sting Saturday, November 19th, with both games starting at 7:05 p.m. The Otters will return home to the Erie Insurance Arena for their annual Thanksgiving Day game Thursday, November 24th, against the Sudbury Wolves at 7 p.m.
