Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League get back at it tomorrow (Wednesday) night when they welcome the Owen Sound Attack to the Tullio Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets for the game are available at the Civic Center Box Office, all Erie-area Ticketmaster locations, on-line at www.ottershockey.com or by calling 814-452-4857.
The Otters (3-14-1-1) face the Attack coming off another close but no cigar weekend suffering a 5-3 loss to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and a 4-3 shoot out loss to the Sudbury Wolves in a pair of road contests. The two loses extended the Otters losing streak to 13 games (0-11-1-1).
Zack Torquato found his offensive touch in Sudbury with a season-high goal and two assists while Luke Gazdic netted a pair of goals in regulation as well as the Otters lone shoot out goal. Justin Hodgman added a pair of assists in the game (marking his fifth multi-assist game of the season) against the Wolves to increase his team-leading point total to eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points in 19 games.
The Owen Sound Attack arrives at the Tullio Arena sporting a 6-13-1-0 record with five of the six wins coming in the last seven games (including a two-game sweep of the Otters in October).
Wayne Simmonds leads the Attack in scoring with 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 20 games. The second-year forward is well on his way to eclipsing his rookie totals of 23 goals and 26 assists for 49 points in 66 games. Scott Tregunna is the only other member of the Attack averaging a point-per-game while overage rookie Matt Carter has also made an early offensive impact. Tregunna has six goals and a team-leading 14 assists for 20 points while Carter has collected 10 goals.
The rebuilding Attack has been susceptible defensively so far this year. Their 87 goals against are the second most in the Western Conference with only the Otters surrendering more.
Wednesday's game against the Attack can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
