Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors are back at home this week and have a good test ahead of them. Tomorrow evening, they welcome the Kitchener Rangers at 7 p.m. The Rangers currently possess the OHL's best record at 16-3-0-0 and will be hosting the Memorial Cup this year.
Majors forward Kaspars Daugavins will be looking to light up the scoresheet, as he has done a number of times at the Hershey Centre this season. His 20 points are currently tops on the team.
Veteran Rangers forward Justin Azevedo leads the Kitchener attack with 37 points. And, former Majors winger Matt Halischuk isn't far behind with 32 points. However, their main strength continues to be team defence as they sit first in the league with only 47 goals allowed.
The Majors currently find themselves fourth in the crowded Central Division with a 7-10-1-0 record.
Mississauga will also be recognizing World Diabetes Day tomorrow night. As a result, a special ceremony will be held prior to the puck drop. At that time, the Majors and Rangers captains, along with the Peel Regional Police and players from the Meadowvale Minor Hockey Association will form a human circle of blue at centre ice. The Blue Circle is the international symbol for diabetes.
Then, on Friday evening, the Majors host the Saginaw Spirit (7-8-2-1) at 7:30 p.m. They will be looking to exact revenge on the Spirit after falling 6-1 in Saginaw on October 27th.
Majors tickets can be purchased through the Hershey Centre box office two hours prior to the puck drop on game-days or during regular business hours or by logging on to the Majors web site (www.stmichaelsmajors.com). For information on season tickets, group packages and private suites, please call the Majors office at 905-502-7788.
