Busy Times - Compuware Arena Hosts Boxing on Thursday, Plymouth Whalers Friday-Saturday

PLYMOUTH, MI - Plymouth Township's Compuware Arena will be hosting the following events later this week:

THURSDAY: Compuware Arena - in association with legendary boxing trainer Emanuel Steward, Dennis Turner and Second Round, Inc. - presents Kronk Gym's New Stars in a boxing event known as "The Ultimate Night of Boxing."

The event starts at 7 p.m. and features NABO Cruiserweight Champion Johnathon Banks (17-0, 13 knockouts) as he takes on Derrick Brown (13-3-3), of New York, NY. Also headlining the event is Ireland's Andy Lee (12-0, nine knockouts) as he opposes Brad Austin (8-3) of Johnson City, TN.

FRIDAY - Plymouth Whalers (12-6-1-0) vs. Windsor Spitfires (13-5-1-0), 7:05 p.m. - Two hot Ontario Hockey League teams meet Friday. Windsor went into first place of the OHL's West Division Sunday with a 3-2 victory over the Niagara IceDogs and comes into the weekend with a two-game winning streak. Plymouth is even hotter with a six-game winning streak on the line.

SATURDAY - Plymouth Whalers vs. London Knights (12-8-0-0), 7:05 p.m. - Two bitter rivals meet Saturday in Plymouth and then will complete a home-and-home series Sunday afternoon at the John Labatt Centre in London. Plymouth eliminated London last season in the Western Conference Finals in the playoffs in five games. London won the first game earlier this year between the two teams, 3-2, on Oct. 26 in London.

ADULT HOCKEY COMING: Compuware Arena - with association with Ed's Hockey - is offering a Winter Adult Hockey League, running on Friday evenings at 8:40 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. The league starts Dec. 7 and runs ten games through Apr. 4. Adults 18-and-older are invited to participate in the program.
