Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League announced today that Mitch Gaulton will require surgery to repair an injured elbow and will be lost to the team for an extended period of time.
The second-year defenseman suffered the injury October 27th in Owen Sound and has been sidelined since. Prior to the injury, the 17 year-old Grimsby, Ontario native had three goals and three assists for five points in 15 games.
A date for Gaulton's surgery has not been determined. Doctors will wait until swelling subsides and he regains some range of motion before scheduling a date. A timeline for Gaulton's return to action will not be available until following surgery.
The Otters (3-14-1-1) return to action tomorrow (Wednesday) night when they welcome the Owen Sound Attack (6-13-1-0) to the Tullio Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets for the game are available at the Civic Center Box Office, all Erie-area Ticketmaster locations, on-line at www.ottershockey.com or by calling 814-452-4857. The game can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
