(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (22-15) lost the series finale against the Schaumburg Boomers 10-1 on Sunday night at Bosse Field.

Evansville's season-best five game winning streak comes to an end with the loss.

The Otters went 4-1 during the opening of their nine-game homestand which continues on Wednesday, July 2 with a series against the Frontier Greys.

Evansville fell behind early on Sunday when Schaumburg scored eight runs in the first inning. Otters pitcher Blake Monar was making his season debut but faced the bases loaded with no outs. Outfielder Justin Vasquez and designated hitter Ty Nelson both walked to bring home two runs. After Nelson's walk, Evansville manager Andy McCauley was ejected for arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Joe Harris. A fielding error, passed ball, hit by pitch and walk would push the Boomers up 6-0 and knock Monar out of the game. The Boomers added two more runs later in the inning against reliever Trevor Walch for the 8-0 edge.

Walch would allow just one unearned run in his 5.2 innings in relief.

The lead held up for Boomers right-hander Seth Webster who allowed one unearned run over 9.0 innings in the win.

First baseman Nik Balog finished the game with two hits for Evansville.

Catcher David Cruz is now on a season-best five game hitting streak.

The Otters are off on Monday and Tuesday before hosting the Greys in a doubleheader on Wednesday. Carson's Brewery is sponsoring the doubleheader which will feature two, seven inning games. First pitch of game one is set for 5:35 pm CDT at historic Bosse Field.

Fans can call 812-435-8686 to purchase tickets.

The game will be broadcast live on WUEV 91.5 FM. Play by play announcer Mike Radomski and color commentator Bill McKeon will have the call beginning at 5:15 pm CDT.
