Last time out...

The Freedom and Rascals split their double header on Saturday as the Freedom won game one by a score of 8-1 and lost game two by a score of 9-2. The Freedom scored two runs in the first inning of game one without recording a hit. The first three batters drew walks and Joe Staley reached on an error to score Ryan Miller. Then Rob Kelly delivered a sacrifice fly, making it 2-0 in favor of the Freedom. In the second inning Cole Miles smacked a RBI single and Staley clobbered a three-run home run to extend the lead to 6-0. Meanwhile, on the mound it was the Chuck Weaver (3-1) show for the Freedom. He went seven innings for the victory, scattering five hits and only giving up one run. Weaver did not walk anyone and struck out three. Bobby Joe Tannehill added a home run of his own later in the game. Game two did not go so well as Brent Choban surrendered three homers in the loss.

For Starters...

Casey Henn is making his eighth start of the season tonight. He is coming off a no-decision against the Frontier Greys on June 22 against the Frontier Greys. He went six innings, giving up five runs on six hits, walking three and striking out six. Henn had a sensational rookie season for the Freedom, posting a 5-0 record with a 3.67 ERA for Florence fresh out of Wright State University. In nine appearances, eight starts, Henn struck out 38 batters in 49 innings while only allowing only 39 hits.

A big win...

The Freedom's seven-run margin of victory in game one of yesterday's double header was their largest margin of victory this season. Their eight runs in the contest matched the most runs they've scored in one game this year.

Rubber Match...

Tonight is the rubber match of the three-game series between the Freedom and the Rascals. Florence has a record of 2-4 in rubber matches this season. With a win tonight the Freedom would improve to 5-3 in home series this season.

June swoon...

After a 7-7 month of May the Freedom have really struggled in June, posting a record of 9-13 entering tonight's game, the final game of the month.

Six inning reference...

The Freedom have a 10-2 record when leading after six but they are only 3-13 when trailing after six this season.

Staley smash...

Joe Staley's home run yesterday gives him five on the year, tops on the team. He also leads the squad with 25 RBI.

Under the .500 mark...

The Freedom are a season high four games under the .500 mark. They have dropped eight of their last 10 games.

Fast starts...

The Freedom have out-scored opponents 27-19 in the first inning. The plus eight run differential is the biggest of any inning for Florence.

My Oh Miles...

Cole Miles has already matched his career high in home runs with four this season. He leads the team in batting average at .327. His 10 steals are most on the squad as well. Over the past 10 games Miles is hitting .441 with a home run and five RBI.
