Otters Improve to 7-0 in the Shootout

Alex DeBrincat had a three-point game to help the Erie Otters stay four points ahead of the London Knights as they beat the Kitchener Rangers 4-3. Dylan Strome and Erik Cernak ended the game with two assists each.

Kitchener collected the first goal of the game when Jeremy Bracco feed Adam Mascherin who put the puck past Devin Williams. Exactly a minute later Connor Bunnaman picked off an Otters pass and moved it to Mascherin as he tallied his second goal of the period with a scorching wrist shot.

Erie Shrunk the Rangers lead to one when Patrick Fellow ripped a shot through traffic that found the net with five minutes left in the second period. Taylor Raddysh leveled the game on the power play. Following a dish from Strome, Raddysh paused before shooting to freeze Luke Opilka then he launched a shot by the goaltender.

The Otters snagged their first lead of the game when Alex DeBrincat receive a feed from Cernak and nudged it into a wide open net to go up 3-2. Kitchener tied the game a minute later when Bracco riffled a one timer past Williams. The game remained tied as regulation time came to an end to force overtime.

After a scoreless 3-on-3 overtime the game headed to a shootout. It took five rounds to crown a winner, but Vanya Lodnia ended it when he blasted a puck by Opilka.

The Otters are back at it on Sunday when they host the Niagara IceDogs for a 5:00 p.m. tilt.
