
Otters Held Scoreless by Crushers Saturday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - In a game where offense was relatively limited, the Evansville Otters were held scoreless by the Lake Erie Crushers Saturday in a 2-0 final.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when Lake Erie's Trevor Achenbach hit a solo home run to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead.
Lake Erie had their second solo home run of the night in the fourth from Javier Betancourt to take a 2-0 lead.
After the fourth, the pitching staffs kept the game 2-0 the rest of the way.
Austin Gossmann gave Evansville a chance on the mound, allowing only two runs in 5.2 innings and four strikeouts. Gossmann took the eventual loss.
Jacob Bowles had another good performance out of the Otters' bullpen, working multiple innings. Bowles struck out three and allowed no hits in 2.1 innings.
Tyler Spring followed with a scoreless inning.
For Lake Erie, the starter Sam Curtis went 4.2 innings with a no-decision.
The win went to Aaron Glickstein, who tossed three innings, and the save went to J.T. Perez after 1.1 innings.
Offensively for Evansville, Gary Mattis, J.R. Davis, and Elijah MacNamee each had two-hit games.
Following Saturday's games, the Florence Y'alls won their game against the Schaumburg Boomers to clinch the West Division and take the Otters out of postseason contention.
The regular season finale for the Otters will be against the Crushers Sunday from Bosse Field at 12:35 p.m. for Fan Appreciation Day and Dog Days of Summer.
