
Otters Drop Series Finale to Frontier Greys

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters (21-14) were defeated 7-1 in the series finale with the Frontier Greys (16-18) on Thursday night.
The Greys broke a scoreless tie in the third with a three-run home run from Julio Rodriguez.
Ahead 3-0, the Greys rallied for four more runs in the fifth inning.
Down by seven, Evansville snapped the shutout attempt in the fifth. Infielder Dean Wilson reached on a one-out single and moved to third on a double from second baseman Josh Allen. Wilson then scored later in the inning on an RBI groundout from outfielder John Schultz. Â
Down 7-1, the Otters weren't able to get any closer over the final few innings in the six run defeat.
Evansville still wins the series two games to one.
Otters starter Efrain Nieves (4-2) takes the loss, yielding seven runs (three earned) in 5.0 innings. Relievers Jake Raffaele (3.0 innings) and Will White (1.0 inning) kept the Greys scoreless over the final four innings.
Evansville outfielder Chris Sweeney collected two hits in the defeat. First baseman Nik Balog also recorded two walks.
The Otters begin a three-game roadtrip on Friday, June 26 at Lake Erie. Evansville is back in town on Wednesday, July 1 with a doubleheader against the Windy City Thunderbolts. It is Senior Night and Azteca Night at Bosse Field. Both games are scheduled for seven innings each with first pitch set for 5:35 p.m. CDT.
