Evansville Otters News Release
Evansville, IN- Tonight's game is more than just your average Thirsty Thursday promotion, it is also a Fireworks night at Bosse Field, presented by the Hoosier Lottery. The Evansville Otters (22-13) will try to keep the fans happy both on and off the field as they are back on the winning track, looking for the series sweep over the Frontier Greys (15-18) after pulling out a 1-0 victory yesterday at Bosse Field.
Trevor Walch was spectacular once again, notching his fourth start this season without allowing an earned run. Walch, a right-handed pitcher from Eufala, OK, is now 4-2 on the season with a 1.28 ERA after firing eight shutout innings and picking up nine strikeouts while walking just two batters.
The only offense on the day for the Otters was an RBI groundout by Nik Balog in the bottom of the eighth inning. The closer, Edgar Lopez, was tasked with nabbing the final three outs and while he did end up in a bases loaded jam with just one out, he got back-to-back looking strikeouts to finish off the Greys and the game. Lopez now has nine outings without allowing an earned run and is a perfect 8-for-8 in save opportunities.
The Otters now sit just one game back of the Traverse City Beach Bums (22-11) and are tied with the Southern Illinois Miners in second (22-13).
Tonight's game will feature a lefty for the Otters who already has two complete games to his record in just his first season, Efrain Nieves. Nieves is 4-1 this season with a 2.95 ERA after picking up his second complete game in his last start; a seven inning affair against the Traverse City Beach Bums where he allowed just two runs over seven innings while striking out five and walking three.
The Frontier Greys will counter with Jordan Kraus. Kraus has one complete game on the season in an 8-3 win against the Joliet Slammers back on June 2nd and has a 3-1 mark with a 2.46 ERA.
Tonight's game is not only a Thirsty Thursday promotion at Bosse Field, where fans will receive drink specials, but also a Fireworks night, presented by the Hoosier Lottery. The game's first pitch is slotted for 6:35 pm CDT with the pregame show of Mike Radomski, Bill McKeon, and Jake Donnelly starting at 6:15 pm CDT.
