Evansville Otters News Release

Sauget, IL - The Otters came from behind twice, but were unable to a third time Sunday night as they fell to the Gateway Grizzlies 6-5 at GCS Ballpark.

Gateway took a 3-0 lead on a Charlie Lisk 3-run home run in the first inning. The Otters closed to within 3-1 in the third on a Dustin Koca groundout. The Otters took a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning on a 2-run Andre Liscinsky triple and a Jeremy Strack RBI groundout. The Grizzlies tied the game with a run in the bottom half of the inning, and took the lead on a Brad Thoma solo home run in the fifth. The Otters would once again tie the game after Frank Meade doubled leading off the seventh inning and scored on Kevin Mackey's single. Meade finished 3-for-4 with three doubles.

Gateway took the lead for good after a single and double put runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Thoma then hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, scoring Jon Quigley from third, giving the Grizzlies a 6-5 lead.

The Otters last best shot came in the next half inning, when Meade again led off with a double. Adam Kampsen came on to pinch run, and advanced to third base on Reece Gormon's flyout to centerfield. Matt Pulley then grounded out to second with Kampsen unable to advance, and pinch hitter Greg Alexander grounded out to third base to end the inning.

Rashad Ford was charged with all six runs in 6.1 innings, falling to 2-3 with the loss. Adam Bowling advanced to 2-4, allowing five earned runs in 7 innings. Adam Revelelette pitched the final two innings for the Grizzlies, earning his first save of the year.

The Otters (10-25) will try to avoid the sweep Monday at 7:05pm CDT.
