Gateway Grizzlies News Release
SAUGET, IL-The Evansville Otters scored four times in the top of the 12th inning Monday night to come away with a 15-11 win over the Gateway Grizzlies, avoiding a sweep, at GCS Ballpark.
Evansville (11-25) scored the four runs on just two hits and two Grizzlies' errors.
The Grizzlies (14-21) came from behind five times in the game, including scoring two runs in the ninth and a run in the bottom of the 10th, but couldn't overcome the Otters 12th inning barrage.
Brandon Peters led the way offensively for the Grizzlies. Peters was 3-7 with five RBIs from the leadoff spot. He hit a two-out two-run home run in the ninth inning to even the score at 10 and send the game to extra innings. Brandon Johnson was 4-6 with an RBI. Breck Draper was 3-5 with a pair of RBIs. Draper singled in the 11th to drive in the tying run. He was then thrown out at home plate trying to score the winning run on a Johnson single. Charlie Lisk was 2-7 with a two-run home run, his 11th of the year.
The Grizzlies travel to Rockford to open a three-game series against the RiverHawks Tuesday night. First pitch is 7:05 pm.
