Evansville Otters News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN - The Otters secured a series victory on Sunday evening as they beat the Schaumburg Boomers in the rubber match, 8-6.
The game was scoreless until the Boomers took the lead in the third inning when a single from Jordan Dean plated two runs. Hunter Ackerman quickly bounced back and struck out the next batter with the bases loaded to end the threat. In the bottom of the frame, Dane Phillips scorched a 2-run double into the left-center gap to tie the game up at 2. Chris Sweeney followed with a double down the right field line that put the Otters ahead by a run. Going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Otters trailed 6-3. That would quickly change as an RBI double and a booming 3-run home run from Chris Sweeney put the Otters ahead for good. Evansville would tack on one more to reach the final total of eight runs. Kevin Kleis came on in the top of the ninth inning to shut the door and earn the save.
The Otters travel to Normal, IL to play the Cornbelters early this week. The Otters return to Historic Bosse Field next weekend, May 20-22. Great promotions, including Star Wars night, are scheduled. Tickets are on sale and may be obtained by calling (812) 435-8686.
