River City Rascals News Release
The series finale between the River City Rascals (0-2) and the Lake Erie Crushers (2-0) in Avon, Ohio, was suspended after the 5th inning in a 2-2 tie.
In Zeb Sneed 's first professional start since September 5th, 2012, he kept the Crushers off the scoreboard the first two frames and paved the way for the Rascals to take an early 1-0 lead.
After notching just four hits in game two of the series, the Rascals had five in the first three innings and got on the board when Kyle Gaedele ripped one down the right field line scoring Dominique Taylor from second.
Going for the series sweep, the Crushers answered that with a solo homerun by leadoff hitter Connor Oliver knotting the game at one.
Rascals returner Josh Silver led off the following frame with a double, giving him hits in three consecutive games but was left stranded after a strikeout and a pair of ground outs by two different Crushers pitchers, starter Steve Hagen and Colin Feltdman.
Sneed shut down the opponent in the fourth, including one strikeout and the Rascals got to back to the bats recording three consecutive hits. Dominique Taylor led off the fifth with a double and Johnny Morales drove him in with a triple. Recording his third hit in a row, Gaedele singled and stole a base but the Rascals failed to bring him and were just able to score two runs off nine hits in the five innings of action.
The rain started to come down strong in the fifth and after Parker Norris delivered a RBI single to tie the game at two, Sneed got out of the inning and the umpires sent the game into a rain delay. 30 minutes later, the game was suspended and will be resumed when the Rascals host the Crushers at the end of July (26-28).
The Rascals have three days off before heading to Kentucky to take on the Florence Freedom. First pitch of a double-header scheduled for 5:35 on Wednesday. Joe Scanio and Lucas Laster are projected to start games one and two of the series and can be heard on rascals.caster.fm.
