
OT win gives Storm second win over Ice

KEARNEY, NE - The Tri-City Storm overcame a 2-1 deficit in the second period and used an overtime goal by Tyler Pistone to beat the Indiana Ice 4-3 Saturday in United States Hockey League action at Kearney's Viaero Event Center Saturday night.
After falling behind early, Tri-City's Kenny Brooks would be credited for a goal in the third period that was on a delayed penalty against Brooks for holding. Indiana's Kevin Goumas scored on his own net as Ice goalie Casey DeSmith went off the ice to add the extra attacker for Indiana.
Maxwell Tardy scored his second goal of the season 14:56 into the third period giving the Storm a brief 3-2 lead.
However, Indiana's Antti Roppo scored his second goal of the night and tied the game, 3-3, with just 1:06 left in regulation.
The Storm would win the game in overtime as Pistone's winning goal came at the 2:35 mark in overtime on an assist from Adam Hout.
Tri-City goalie Carsen Chubak saved 24 of 27 shots, while Casey DeSmith made 33 saves on 37 shots. The Storm outshout Indiana 38-27.
The Storm improved to 2-1 with the weekend sweep of Indiana, while the Ice fell to 1-2.
The Storm on the power play was 0-6, while Indiana was 0-3 with the man-advantage. Tri-City has killed all 13 opposition power plays to start the 2009-2010 season.
The Storm will face off against the Fargo Force next Friday night in the Viaero Event Center.
