Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
A three-goal second period propelled the Chicago Steel past the Waterloo Black Hawks 6-3 Friday at the Edge Ice Arena in Chicago.
The middle 20 minutes included goals from Sahir Gill, Alex Krushelnyski, and Greg Wolfe, breaking open what had been a slim 2-1 Chicago advantage.
Andrew Schmit notched the first goal of the game, locating a bouncing puck in the slot before anyone else, 3:13 into the action. Zach Palmquist tied the score for Waterloo 3:06 later, but Chicago took the lead for good at 11:32 of the first, when Dan Kolomatis found the net.
The Black Hawks rallied in the third on goals by Tyler Barnes at 2:58 and Nick Sorkin at 8:48, but the comeback was snuffed out when Mark Anthoine buried a chance at 15:14.
After two road games to start the season, the Black Hawks return home to host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Saturday at 7:05. Tickets still remain for the game. The first 2,500 fans will receive a 2009-2010 magnetic schedule from Community National Bank, and one lucky Black Hawks backer will win a brand new refrigerator from Best Buy.
