Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Des Moines Buccaneers would lay it all out on the ice tonight as they battled the Youngstown Phantoms at Buccaneer Arena. But their efforts wouldn't be enough as they were defeated, 5-4. Youngstown started out the night with a goal early in the first but the Buccaneers were able to tie the game up with a goal from rookie Connor Frick. The goal would be Frick's first of the season. Youngstown would score one more goal before starting goalie Eric Mihalik would be replaced with his counterpart, Charles Williams. The Phantoms put one more on the board before T.J. Tynan was able to score a powerplay goal. Tynan has scored four goals this season and has scored in the last three games. The period would end with a score of 3-2. Youngstown would score twice in the second before tensions snapped between the teams. Captain H.T. Lenz would try to rally his team as he dropped his gloves against Luke Eibler. Just two minutes later, Austin Coldwell would score his first goal of the season. The period ended with Youngstown ahead 5-3. The Buccaneers would bring it within one, as Ryan Walters would score just over two minutes into the period. Youngstown would hold onto their lead though, even as the Buccaneers pulled goalie Charles William to add a fourth forward to the ice. Starting goalie, Eric Mihalik played 25:40 and stopped 16 of 20 shots on goal. Charles Williams would record the loss, playing 33:26 and stopping 21 of 22 shots on goal. The Buccaneers will be at home next Saturday night as Youngstown will return to the Madhouse on Hickman. Tickets are still available for purchase at the arena box office or online at www.bucshockey.com.
