OSU Baseball Coach on Dragons TV Friday

DAYTON, OH-New Ohio State University head baseball coach Greg Beals will serve as guest television commentator on Friday, September 3, 2010 as the Dayton Dragons battle the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Fifth Third Field. The game will be televised on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 and is also available on Time Warner Basic Cable Channel 23. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

A native of Springfield, Beals was named to his current position at OSU on June 17 after eight seasons as the head coach at Ball State University. At Ball State, Beals led the Cardinals to three Mid American Conference West Division championships and to the 2006 NCAA Regional. Beals, a Kent State University graduate, also played professionally for three seasons in the New York Mets organization.

Dragons Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Tom Nichols will provide play-by-play on the telecast. The games are produced by the Dragons in-house production staff (Sean Coffman is the Executive Director). This telecast will wrap up a 15-game TV package in 2010 for the Dragons. Other guest commentators this season have included former Reds players Bill Doran, Eddie Milner, Tommy Helms, Doug Bair, and Chris Sexton, hall-of-fame writer Hal McCoy, WHIO TV Sports Director Mike Hartsock, former Reds Assistant Director of Player Development Grant Griesser, and Reds Assistant Director of Media Relations Jamie Ramsey.

Other guest commentators since the Dragons brought the game telecasts in-house in 2008 have included former Reds greats Ken Griffey, Sr., Lee May, and Jim O'Toole as well as Dayton area former Major Leaguers Fred Sherman and Jeff Reboulet and longtime Dayton Daily News writer Bucky Albers.
