
Osprey Drop Series Finale to the Mustangs Sunday

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (20-22,1-3) fell 16-8 Sunday in the series finale to the Billings Mustangs (18-24, 3-1) at Dehler Park. Zack Shannon blasted his sixth home run of the season for Missoula in the loss.
In the bottom of the first, Billings threated with two men on base, but Osprey starter Edgar Martinez worked out of the jam with a flyout to end the threat.
Missoula struck first in the top of the second as Jesus Munoz drove an infield single to score Shannon, and David Sanchez scored Nick Dalesandro with a sacrifice fly to push the Osprey ahead 2-0.
Buddy Kennedy and Zac Almond led off the third inning with singles for Missoula as Shannon drove home a run with a sacrifice fly. But the Mustangs offense caught fire in the bottom of the frame.
Billings poured on nine runs in the bottom half of the third on seven hits, three walks, and a hit by pitch. Pabel Manzanero drove a two-RBI double while Juan Martinez helped lead the way with a two-run home amid the offensive barrage.
The Mustangs offense continue in the bottom of the fourth with two more runs, one on a sacrifice fly from Carlos Rivero and another on an Osprey error to push ahead 11-3. Drew Mount doubled home the final run of the inning for a Mustangs 12-3 lead after four.
Missoula threated in the seventh with two men on base after a Mustangs error and an Eddie Hernandez single, but the Osprey left both runners on.
Another run scored for Billings in the bottom of the seventh as Manzanero drove his second double of the day to push the lead to 13-3.
In the top of the eighth, Zach Hoffpauir singled home Shannon, who doubled to start the inning, to make it a nine-run game. However, Billings scored three more in the inning to pull in front 16-4.
Missoula started the ninth with five consecutive hits, including a three-run homer from Shannon. Daniel Wasinger also drove in a run with a single as the Osprey fell to the Mustangs 16-8.
Missoula heads to Helena for the first of two road games Monday with first pitch slated for 7:05 pm. The Selway Armory Pregame Show is slated to begin at 6:45 pm on 102.9 ESPN Missoula and the MiLB First Pitch App.
