October 23, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Orlando Solar Bears News Release
TODAY: The Solar Bears (1-1-0-0) conclude their regular season series with the Allen Americans (3-0-0-0) this afternoon at the Allen Event Center. The Solar Bears are the only member of the South Division in action today, giving Orlando a chance to jump into a three-way tie for second place with South Carolina and Norfolk.
CRANE GETS CREDIT: Chris Crane was retroactively credited with the assist on Kristian Pospisil's second period goal in Saturday night's game, giving Crane the team lead with two helpers in the early stages of the season.
PLUS FOR PICCINICH: J.J. Piccinich led the Solar Bears on Saturday with a +2 rating. His assist on Aleksandr Mikulovich's third period tally also gives him a point in each of Orlando's first two games of the season.
DUPUY SHOOTING THE PUCK: Jean Dupuy led Orlando on Saturday with seven shots on goal, and now possesses the team lead for the season with 10 overall through two games. Last season in the AHL with the Rochester Americans, Dupuy's single-game high for shots on goal was five, a feat he achieved twice in 46 games.
STREAKS:
Kristian Pospisil - 2-game goal streak (3g)
Chris Crane - 2-game assist streak (2a)
J.J. Piccinich - 2-game point streak (1g-1a)
MILESTONE TRACKER:
Joe Perry - needs 1 goal for sole possession of third place in franchise history (tied with Jacob Cepis and Brady Vail with 35)
Chris Crane - needs 2 goals for 50 career ECHL goals
Josh Winquist - needs 4 goals for 50 career professional goals
AFFILIATE NOTES: The Toronto Marlies (5-1-0-0) were led by two former Solar Bears in yesterday's 4-0 shutout over Charlotte, as Mason Marchment scored twice including the game-winner, and Garret Sparks made 24 saves to blank the Checkers. Toronto faces Charlotte again this afternoon at 4 p.m. The Maple Leafs (6-2-0-0) mounted a comeback attempt in the third period last night but fell short to Ottawa by a 6-3 score; the Maple Leafs are back in action Monday against Los Angeles.
