Big 3 Storylines
3) All that OT
The Royals opened up the season with back-to-back overtime wins, the first time Reading has started a campaign in such fashion. It is the third time in the team's history the club has won back-to-back overtime games (2010, 2012) and the first time the club has won in overtime on consecutive days.
In 2010, Reading won three straight overtime games, the club record, between Nov. 21 to Nov. 26. Matt Caruana (1:10 of OT vs. Elmira), Mikhail Stefanovich (2:02 vs. Cincinnati) and Todd Perry (1:14 vs. Cincinnati) provided the winners.
Two seasons later, Yannick Tifu scored overtime winners in consecutive games as the Royals defeated Florida on Feb. 4, 2012 and then topped Elmira on Feb. 10.
The Royals record for consecutive games decided past regulation is three and last happened March 24-31. Reading went 1-2 in those three games.
2) Naclerio's passes
With two assists Sunday, forward Mark Naclerio became the sixth Royals player to record multiple points in the first weekend. In the win over Wheeling, Naclerio passed to Matt Willows for the first goal and then tapped a pass to Nolan Zajac in overtime, who scored the winner.
A second-year professional from Milford, CT, Naclerio had 14 goals and 33 points last season with Atlanta. The former Brown Captain (2014-16) signed with the Boston Bruins organization after graduating and has 14 goals and 35 points in 42 ECHL games.
1) Comrie ... we've seen this before
Adam Comrie leads the Royals with three points (3a) and is two points away from matching Simon Tremblay's team defenseman record of 86 career points.
