Orioles' Grimsley to start rehab assignment in Bowie this Sunday

The Baltimore Orioles have announced that they will assign RHP Jason Grimsley to the Bowie Baysox on Sunday, June 26 for a rehabilitation assignment. Grimsley will take the mound for the first time this season, just nine months after undergoing "Tommy John" surgery to replace the ulnar collateral ligment in his right elbow on October 12, 2004.

Grimsley last pitched in 2004, when he was 5-7 with a 3.86 ERA in 73 games. The Orioles acquired Grimsely from Kansas City on June 21 of last season in exchange for former Baysox RHP Denny Bautista, who was with the Baysox at the time. After the trade, Grimsley went 2-4 with a 4.21 ERA in 41 contests with the Orioles.

The 37-year-old Grimsley has spent parts of 12 seasons in the major leagues, and has fashioned a career record of 40-54 with a 4.74 ERA in 511 games.
