Fresno, CAâ Mark your calendars for October 18-20, 2002âit's the Fresno Falcons Opening Weekend! Hockey fans can get their fix during an action packed weekend which will kick off with a Taylor Cup Finals rematch against the Idaho Steelheads on Friday and Saturday, October 18 and 19, at 7:30pm and conclude with a showdown with the Anchorage Aces on Sunday, October 20, at 5pm.
Single-game tickets for opening weekend and the rest of the Falcons' 36-game home schedule go on sale at the Selland Arena Box Office on Monday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. Ticket prices range from $8 for general admission seating to $14 Gold seats along center ice. Kids, students, seniors, and military are all eligible for a $1 discount.
Opening night on October 18 will feature the Taylor Cup Championship banner raising ceremony, as well as the presentation of the championship rings to the team. The first 5,000 fans to arrive at Selland Arena will receive a Taylor Cup Championship commemorative poster, presented by Carl's Jr. The Fresno Junior Falcons hockey team will also be introduced on the ice during the first intermission.
Saturday's game on October 19 will conclude the showdown against the Steelheads, and the first 5,000 fans in attendance that night will receive a 2002-03 Falcons magnetic schedule presented by Spinal Health Center and Institute of Technology. This game will also mark the return of the Hedrick 's Hallowell Chevrolet Truck Shootout.
The weekend will conclude with the season's first Kid's Day against the Aces on Sunday, October 20. The first 2,000 people to enter the arena will receive a Falcons Schedule Cup courtesy of Volume Services America. Children under 16 will be eligible for specially discounted tickets through the Selland Arena Box Office.
