HOUSTON (May 11, 2012)-One Day: Welcome Home Houston Dynamo! On Saturday, May 12, the Houston Dynamo will take on D.C. United, presented by Greenstar Recycling, in the Inaugural Match at BBVA Compass Stadium (www.bbvacompassstadium.com ). A sell-out crowd of 22,000 people is expected at this historic match. Fans are encouraged to come out early for pre-game festivities including Tailgating, available in Lots B & C only. There are no available tailgating parking passes for Lots B & C, as they have been pre-sold to Dynamo season ticket holders.
For those who do not have access to the Tailgating area, other pre-game options include: Orange Avenue hosted Rod Ryan from 94.5 The Buzz. Orange Avenue is open to all fans ages 21 and up and is located at the corner of Rusk & St. Emanuel. There will be live music, food and drinks. In addition to Orange Avenue, there will be a Mazda Activation Area, open exclusively for Mazda owners and located on Bastrop between McKinney and Walker. There will be street parking for the first 30 Mazda cars as well as other activities. Also, Greenstar Recycling SoccerFest will open at 11:30 a.m. and will offer interactive games and activities for fans of all ages. For fans looking to purchase exclusive Dynamo merchandise, the adidas Dynamo Team Store will open at 10 a.m. All stadium gates will open at 2 p.m.
Pre-game ceremonies include the unveiling of the championship banners as well as Dynamo and stadium construction milestone videos. Dignitaries that will be present include: Mayor Annise Parker, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, former Mayor Bill White, Harris County Houston Sports Authority, city council members, AEG owner Philip Anschutz, AEG President & CEO Tim Leiweke and AEG Facilities President Bob Newman. National recording artist and Houston native Jessica Clemmons will perform the National Anthem. Commissioner Don Garber and BBVA Compass President & CEO Manolo SÃÂ nchez will conduct a ceremonial hand shake with both teams prior to kick-off.
