
Ontario Reign Game Preview: Reign Close Home-And-Home Series with the Gulls on Blanket Giveaway Nigh

Ontario Reign News Release
Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), take on the San Diego Gulls tonight at 6:00 p.m. PT at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Tonight is the third of 12 meetings between the two teams this season and the final game of a home-and-home weekend series.
Blanket Night:
The first 5,000 fans to tonight's game receive an Ontario Reign blanket courtesy of San Antonio Regional Hospital.
Duck Hunting:
The Gulls, primary affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks (NHL), defeated the Reign 3-2 last night at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. Forward Michael Mersch scored both goals for the Reign and goaltender Peter Budaj made 28 saves. For the Gulls, forward Nic Kerdiles, Kyle Bonis and defenseman Shea Theodore provided the offense and netminder Matt Hackett made 23 saves.
Reign Leader:
Defenseman Vincent LoVerde skated in his 200th AHL game last night and leads the Reign with four points (four assists) against the Gulls.
Powerhouses Collide:
The Reign and the Gulls boast the top two power plays in the American Hockey League standing at 25.9% and 25.7% respectively. The Reign are third in the league on the penalty kill at 88.6%.
Mersch on A Milestone:
Forward Michael Mersch, who registered his third two-goal game of the season last night, skates in his 100th professional/AHL game tonight.
Protect this House:
The Reign are 5-0-2-0 on home ice this season.
Upcoming Milestones:
Forward Nic Dowd is two games away from 100 AHL/Reign tilts. In the distance, forward Sean Backman is four games away from 300 AHL contests and Head Coach Mike Stothers is eight wins away from 100 as a professional head coach.
