Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - Malcolm Subban turned away all 18 shots he faced to earn his first shut out of the season to lift the P-Bruins to a 3-0 victory over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. This was the third match-up against the Phantoms in the 2015-16 campaign and the first win for Providence.

It was a quiet first period, with the P-Bruins outshooting the Phantoms 11-6. Both teams had one unsuccessful power play opportunity.

The P-Bruins cam alive in the second period, firing 11 shots on goal while only allowing 5 in their own end. Brandon DeFazio put the P-Bruins on the board 13:39 into the period when he fired a shot past Ouellete's glove side. Tommy Cross and Austin Czarnik were credited with the helpers.

Seth Griffith doubled the lead 6:13 into the third when he knocked in his own rebound, after a feed from Chris Breen. Chris Casto had the secondary assist.

Anton Blidh extended the lead to three when his shot found a way past Ouellete's blocker during a power play opportunity. This marked Blidh's 5th goal of the season. Colby Cave and Matt Irwin notched assists on the play.

Despite needing to kill a 5v3 penalty late in the third, the P-Bruins looked more disciplined than as of late. Providence had take 18 penalties over the last three losses.

Providence is back home at the Dunk this Friday November 4th against the Portland Pirates.
