Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders and American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announce defenseman Wes O'Neill has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL.

A four-year pro, O'Neill was a former selection of the New York Islanders in the fourth round (115th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. By being loaned to Bridgeport, O'Neill becomes the third member of the K-Wings this season to be sent up to the AHL.

In 13 games this season with Kalamazoo, O'Neill, who is captain of the K-Wings, has registered three points (2 goals, 1assist) and 22 minutes in penalties. O'Neill played a pivotal role for the K-Wings on Tuesday during a 3-2 overtime victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones. With the game tied at 2-2 in the third period, O'Neill was on the ice for the majority of a span of four minutes to help the K-Wings kill off a five-on-three advantage for the Cyclones.

Last season, O'Neill spent most of the season in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters and played two games in the NHL with the Colorado Avalanche. In his career, O'Neill has played five games in the NHL, all of them with Colorado.

Kalamazoo will next hit the ice tomorrow, Friday, November 19th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off at the U.S. Bank Arena against the Cincinnati Cyclones.

The K-Wings will return home to Wings Stadium on Thursday, November 25th for a 7:30 p.m. encounter versus the Greenville Road Warriors during the first-ever Old Burdick's Thanksgiving Night Game.
