Nailers Drop First Game of Road Trip 4-2

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Greenville Road Warriors used two power play goals to slip by the Wheeling Nailers by a score 4-2 Thursday night at the BI-LO Center.

After a scoreless first period, Greenville stuck first on the power play as Shane Harper poked a shot past Nailers goaltender Patrick Killeen. The Road Warriors made it 2-0 just 31 seconds later, when Marc-Olivier Vallerand ripped a shot top shelf on the glove side of Killeen.

The Nailers repsonded, when Ben Street redirected a Kyle Bushee shot from the point which slipped past Greenville goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris, to pull the Nailers within one. However, Greenville would receive two more goals from Brenden Connolly and Mark Voakes to take a three goal lead in the third.Kris Vernarsky would pull the Nailers back to within two goals off a nice feed from a hustling Hunter Bishop to make it 4-2. The Nailers would continue to get chances in the third period, but the Greenville goalie would keep them off the board to secure the 4-2 victory.

The Nailers continue the road swing on Friday when they battle the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. Tune into the game on The Mix 97.3 FM, or watch the game on WTOV, or RTV.
