BROCKTON, MA - New Jersey Jackal SS Guillermo Reyes hit a bases- clearing three-run double in the top of the seventh inning to pad a Jackal advantage and lead the Jackals to a 7-2 win over the Rox before 2,242 on a brisk evening at Campanelli Stadium. The loss guarantees that the Rox will be the #3 seed in the Can Am League playoffs and will start playoff action at New Haven County on Wednesday, September 6th, returning home for the third game of a potential five game series on Friday, September 8th. LHP Chris Trevino allowed just three runs in his first six innings but allowed three more in the seventh in his first Rox start. Jackal RHP Joe Orloski limited the Rox to two runs over seven innings of work. With the loss, the Rox fall to 48-42 overall and 24-20 in the second half of the 2006 season.

After throwing just six pitches in the first inning of his first Rox game, Trevino labored in the second, allowing two runs on four hits, including RBI singles from RF Alex Fernandez and C Clay Kuklick. In the fifth, the Rox tied the score at two. 3B Mike Torres hit his first HR of the season, and LF John Schmitz followed later in the frame with a sacrifice fly. Schmitz was the only Rox player to finish the game with more than one hit. He went two for three with a double and a RBI. The Jackals retook the lead in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly.

In the seventh with a 3-2 lead, the Jackals loaded the bases on two singles and a hit batsman. While Trevino induced a fielders' choice groundout that nailed a runner at the plate, Reyes stroked a 2-1 pitch to left-center that emptied the jammed bases. He later scored on a wild pitch to complete the Jackals offensive night. RHP Joey Baker pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of the pen for Brockton.

Tomorrow at 5:05 PM at Camapnelli Stadium, RHP John Kelly (10-3, 2.67 ERA) looks to become only the second pitcher in the league with 11 wins. He will face off against LHP Raul Valdez (6-3, 3.45 ERA) in the fourth game of the set.
