
One-Goal Game Ends in Monsters' Shutout Loss

The Lake Erie Monsters (4-9-1-0) surrendered a 1-0 lead to the Hamilton Bulldogs (5-5-1-0) with one minute remaining in the second period, which would end up being the only goal of the evening. The Monsters fell 1-0 in Hamilton on Saturday for their third straight loss. The shutout marks the fifth time the Monsters have been blanked through 14 games so far this season.
Brian Willsie, a former Monster, was denied on a shot from the right circle by Monsters goalie Cedrick Desjardins, but Aaron Palushaj picked up the rebound and the goal with a minute left in the second period. The goal game on the power play. The Monsters were 0-4 on the man advantage and 4-5 on the penalty kill for the night.
Desjardins is now 1-2-0 with the loss; he stopped 29 of 30 Hamilton shots on Saturday. Nathan Lawson pitched a 24-save shutout for Hamilton; he is 5-3-1.
The Monsters will be back at home Thursday night against the San Antonio Rampage for the first of two games in two nights. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. as the Monsters begin a stretch of five straight games at Quicken Loans Arena.
