Prince George Cougars News Release

As the holiday break approaches, the Prince George Cougars proudly announce that two of their standout players, Ondrej Becher and Viliam Kmec, have earned the prestigious opportunity to participate in their respective countries' World Junior camps.

Kmec, 19, is poised to make a significant impact as a potential member of Team Slovakia for the third consecutive season. The talented Cougars blue-liner played a pivotal role in his team's stunning 6-3 victory over Team USA. Despite an unfortunate quarter-final loss to Team Canada, marked by Connor Bedard's highlight reel overtime winner, Kmec's skills and track record at the IIHF level has positioned him as a key player to watch in this year's World Junior Championship.

For Becher, hailing from Ostrava, CZE, this marks his second attempt to secure a spot on the Czech national team. Last year, Becher narrowly missed the cut but is determined to make his mark this season. Expressing his enthusiasm, Becher commented, "This is a cool opportunity for me, and I would love to represent my country at one of the biggest tournaments in the world."

The Prince George Cougars extend theircongratulations to Ondrej Becher and Viliam Kmec for this well-deserved honour and wish them the best of luck as they embark on their World Junior journey. The organization is immensely proud of their accomplishments and looks forward to witnessing their stellar performances on the international stage.
