Omaha Beef News Release
Omaha, NE - The Omaha Beef professional indoor football team in conjunction with CARSTAR will hold a fundraiser to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, beginning at this Saturday's game against the Sioux Falls Storm.
Before the game, CARSTAR's SuperStang, a 1967 Shelby Super Snake Mustang, will be displayed on the BEEF's Boardwalk. The car will also be displayed on the field during halftime. According to their website, www.carstarsuperstang.com, the car was re-created by a partnership with CARSTAR and Jeff Yergovich, owner of R&A Motorsports. An 18-month fundraising tour benefitting Make-A-Wish kicked off last July in Las Vegas and continues until January 2009. All of the proceeds will be going to Make-A-Wish. For additional information, visit www.carstarsuperstang.com. This weekend's game marks the only appearance by the SuperStang.
During the first half of the game, Make-A-Wish representatives will be selling paper airplanes for $1 each. At halftime, there will be an airplane toss into a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck. This weekend's game will be the first preliminary competition. The following four preliminary competitions correspond with the BEEF's next four home games on April 5th, April 26th, May 3rd and May 17th.
If fans make their airplane into the truck's bed during preliminary competition, they will be invited back on June 14th during the BEEF's last regular season game against the Sioux City Bandits to try their luck at one final toss to win the truck. The finals will involve throwing paper airplanes into the truck's moon roof. All of the money raised through the paper airplane sales will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Stephanie Stiles from CARSTAR looks forward to the partnership between her organization and the BEEF.
"This game is the first of a six-game series that we will be working together with the Omaha Beef," Stiles said. "At the end of the series, we will be presenting a check to the local Make-A-Wish foundation from the monies raised at the BEEF games."
For every car that CARSTAR repairs locally, a donation will be made to the local Make-A-Wish foundation. For additional information, visit www.carstar.com.
