Storm to Hit the Road and Renew Rivalry with Beef

The Sioux Falls Storm will play their second away game of the season as the team heads to Omaha to take on the Beef. The Storm will take a 40-game win streak into the game against an Omaha team that boasts the second best rushing offense in the league, trailing only the Storm this season. The Storm?s current win streak got its beginning in Omaha as the Storm defeated the Beef 51-41 on July 30, 2005.

The Beef enters the game after losing to the RiverCity Rage in Week 3. The Beef fell 36-18 as the Rage scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to take an 18-10 lead into halftime.

James McNear leads the Beef offense this year from the quarterback position. McNear gained 79 yards on the ground with one touchdown and passed for 176 yards with four touchdowns in a Week 2 victory over Bloomington. The Beef?s all-purpose quarterback is currently leading the league in rushing yards and is fourth in passing yards. Receiver Kenny Horton is the team?s leading receiver. He has caught thirteen passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Defensively, Colin Bryant is leading the Omaha defense. Bryant recorded 8.5 tackles, 2.5 for a loss, and a sack last week. The leading tackler for the Beef is Kyle Whitehurst who has recorded 16.5 tackles this season. Brent Hafford, who was a UIF All-Star at the defensive back position, is also back for the Beef defense.

Rookies will be holding a Viewing Party on Saturday as well for Storm fans to watch the game on their big screen TVs.
